Storage Technologies

What are the main storage technologies?Magnetic Storage - Uses magnetised disks to store data. - Moving parts; large capacity (1–2 TB or more). - Examples: hard drives, magnetic tape. - Cheap per GB, slower than SSDs. Optical Storage - Uses laser light to read/write data. - Low capacity (CD ~700 MB, DVD ~4.7 GB). - Portable and lightweight. - Examples: CD, DVD, Blu-ray. - Prone to scratches; slower access speed. Solid-State Storage - Uses flash memory (no moving parts). - Fast, durable, lightweight. - Examples: SSDs, USB flash drives, SD cards. - More expensive per GB but faster and more reliable.
