Claire Morgans

Claire brings 23 years of teaching experience and 18 years as Head of Department, with a proven track record of raising standards and achieving excellence. She specialises in IT, Computer Science, Business Studies, and Media at KS3 and KS4, and teaches Finance and Computer Science at KS5. Throughout her career, Claire has successfully led departments from Requires Improvement to Outstanding, supporting students of all abilities, including those with complex SEND needs. Her dedication and impact have been recognised nationally. Claire has been nominated for Pearson’s Teacher of the Year Award for two consecutive years and is a winner of the prestigious Essex Teaching Awards for outstanding classroom impact. She has also been appointed Computer Science Master Teacher for her innovation in digital learning and selected as a Raspberry Pi Master Teacher for advancing computing education in schools.

Claire’s leadership and inspiration have helped students excel in national competitions. Her students have won the “Apps for Good” national competition with creative tech solutions and taken the top spot in the Raytheon Quadcopter Challenge, demonstrating exceptional technical skill and teamwork.

In addition to her teaching and leadership roles, Claire has served as Gifted & Talented Coordinator and Associate Assistant Principal, bringing whole-school impact. She has deep expertise in SEND and Autism strategies, creating inclusive, student-centred classrooms where all learners can thrive. As an examiner for AQA, OCR, and NCFE, she offers a valuable insider’s perspective on marking and exam success.

Claire’s specialist areas include departmental leadership and improvement, exam preparation and technique, curriculum development, data-driven teaching, programming and computer theory, and business and finance case study analysis. She also has a strong passion for resource creation and driving excellence in teaching and learning.

Her favourite teaching motto is:

"Don't worry about failures, worry about the chances you miss when you don't even try."

Outside of teaching, Claire enjoys musical theatre, escape rooms, swimming, and chess. She believes that curiosity, creativity, and perseverance—whether on stage, in the pool, or across a chessboard—are the same qualities that help students thrive in the classroom. Every challenge is a puzzle waiting to be solved, and she loves helping learners realise they’re capable of more than they ever imagined.
